NOTICE OF REMINDER – EASTER 2021, CENTRAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL CEC MEETING.

ENUGWU Agidi Brotherly Union (E.B.U) Nigeria, has noticed the desperation of some persons especially Ichie Alex Aniesona and co with the intention to convene an ILLEGAL and UNCONSTITUTIONAL meeting of the Town Union using Elders Council and Ulonabo for a peace and reconciliation meeting, under false pretence as a tool to achieve their selfish interests.

The leadership wish to disassociate themselves with this kind of UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY desperately planned by those that have sworn that our community will know no peace as long as we are hindering them from illicit sales of Lands and Thuggery.

We therefore, urge our people to disregard such a meeting notice, and still asking and looking forward to suggestions and recommendations for a peaceful Enugwu Agidi to be discussed and ratified in our upcoming CEC meeting to be held on;
Date: 2nd and 3rd April 2021.

Insecurity: My Life Is In Danger, Enugwu-Agidi Monarch Cries Out.

CONFLICT IN ENUGWU AGIDI: Igwe/PG Calls For Calm.

Amidst the tension engineered by land grabbers and buccaneers, the Paramount ruler of Enugwu-Agidi, HRH Igwe Micheal Okekeuche, Okpalariam lll Enugwu Agidi, has raised alarm that his life and that of his cabinet members are in danger, just as he called on the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government to come to his rescue and restore peace to the hitherto peaceful community.

Speaking at a press conference at the weekend, HRH Igwe Okekeuche stated “my life and those of my cabinet members and families have been threatened by the Land Bandits and their hirelings”. All efforts to get the intervention and protection of the Nigeria Police Force, from Abagana Divisional Police Office and Anambra State Police Command Awka, have so far failed. Intelligence available to us reveal that the Land Bandits operate in consonance with a powerful retired senior police officer, precisely a retired DIG who takes royalty from their illicit sales of lands in exchange for police protection.

According to him “I am His Royal Highness, Igwe Michael Chidozie Okekeuche (Okpalariam lll). I am the Paramount ruler of Enugwu-Agidi Kingdom, Umunri Ancestral Dynasty of Njikoka L.G.A, Anambra State”. Here with me are some of my Royal cabinet members, opinion leaders and stakeholders. I am constrained to hold this press conference to draw the attention of the Federal Government, the security agencies, the general public and in particular, the Government and entire people of Anambra State to the recent crisis that has engulfed our once peaceful community.

“This crisis has been smouldering since 2019, and we have been doing everything humanly possible to manage and contain it”. However, the crisis peaked on February 15, 2021 when some violent hoodlums sponsored by;
A. Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor (Okekeonyeocha).
B. Mr. Chidi Okoye.
C. Chukwuebuka Onuorah.
Just to name a few, invaded the community and unleashed violence on hapless members of my community.
The armed hoodlums mounted multiple road blocks and went from house to house hunting down their victims who they inflicted with various degrees of injuries.

My palace was overrun and my security guards overwhelmed. Over 17 youths suffered various degrees of injury. Today, both the victims and those that survived their attacks live in fear and despair.
You may be wondering why the sudden eruption of crisis in Enugwu Agidi: The issue is that a certain;
A. Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor Okekeonyeocha.
B. Mr. Chukwuebuka Onuorah.
C. Chidi Okoye.
The above men and others constituted themselves into a deadly militia and cult group perpetrating all manners of lawlessness in Enugwu Agidi. Their unwholesome activities were first noticed with concern in 2019. It is not surprising that since the commencement of their nefarious activities we have witnessed increase in the cases of rape, robbery, kidnapping and violence in and around Enugwu Agidi” he added.

The Royal father pointed out that “the most visible of their criminal activities is land banditry. They habitually deal on ancestral lands without the mandate of the community and neither do they render accounts to the community. They use proceeds from these illicit transactions of sales of Enugwu Agidi lands to induce the police and influence most of our youths whom they took to SHRINES to take OATHS OF ALLEGENCE to VIOLENT FRATERNAL SILENCE. This by itself has created tense situation among the populace.

“To avert breakdown of law and order, the town union government after wide consultations with different stakeholders intervened by initiating a streamlined process governing the sales of lands over four (4) plots in Enugwu-Agidi part of which requires verification and authentication of rightful ownership of lands before sales. This arrangement did not go down well with the land bandits hence their threat to the peace and order of the town” he stated.

HRH Igwe Okekeuche, noted that “their lawlessness, knew no bound. They impersonate me, the traditional ruler of the town and created a parallel Town Union Government. They formed their own armed militia. They launched attacks, disrupting every single meeting of the legally constituted Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union where they molest and maim every person in sight.

“The Chairman of the Town Union Care taker Committee Hon. Ndubuisi Obijiofor, appointed by the Anambra State Government and seventeen (17) other youths are still in different hospitals recuperating after the most recent violent attacks” he added.

Igwe Okekeuche declared “My life and those of my cabinet members and families have been threatened by the Land Bandits and their hirelings. Have you ever heard or seen in the history of Enugwu-Agidi, where a so called Chairman of Ezinato, “Na Azu Eke” dressed up in Igwe Enugwu-Agidi dressing, with osisi ofor and his so called Ndi Ichie selected outside Ezinato Community and goes to Eke Market during OPOTO Festival na azu EKE?

Why would the so-called Chairman of Ezinato Community, support a FAKE EBU PG, while there is an authentic EBU PG that was legally constituted and approved by Anambra State Government as Caretaker Committee Chairman of EBU Nigeria?
In the history of Ezinato and history of Enugwu-Agidi, when did any Chairman of Ezinato Community have an Onowu, or call himself EZE OKPALARIAM and allow his followers call him such name?
In the history of Ezinato and Enugwu-Agidi, when has a so called Chairman of Ezinato, paraded himself in Eke Market as an Igwe during OPOTO FESTIVAL na azu EKE?
When did the so called Chairman Ezinato Community, sell Ezinato Lands against the wish of Ndi Ezinato Community. (As the current Secretary General of Etiti Progressive Union EPU, the largest village in Ezinato Community, , I am in a pivotal position to state the above)
Why would the Chairman of Ezinato, refuse to tender a financial account to Ndi Ezinato Community the number of Lands he sold with and or without the mandate and approval of Ezinato Community, because Ezinato Community is made up of three (3) villages of Enugwu-Agidi.
Is it fair for the so called Chairman of Ezinato to:
A. Continue sale of Ezinato Community lands without the approval of Ndi Ezinato?
B. Refuse to give financial and transparent account of how many plots he has sold?
C. Continue to sell Ezinato Lands with impunity?

E. Pay monies from sales of Ezinato Lands, into his private and personal bank account?
F Refused for almost a year to give a transparent financial accounts to Ndi Ezinato Community?
G. Is it legal to develop a violent militia that are used to violently attack Ndi Ezinato and Ndi Enugwu-Agidi?
H. It is on record that many Ndi Enugwu-Agidi have been violently attacked and hospitalized by foreign violent thugs sponsored by You-Know-Who…

It is on record that people of Ezinato Community and Enugwu Agidi live in ABJECT FEAR to speak out because of fear of their lives, their property and their loved ones due to the watching eyes of sponsored violent thugs and MILITIA, especially at this present time that Anambra State is facing some serious Security Challenges in February and March 2021.

Enugwu-Agidi Moral Choice: “Speaking Out or Staying Silent”.

We’re all going to die someday, sooner or later, whether or not we had even spoken out about the recent siege against Enugwu Agidi and Ndi Enugwu Agidi by Land Bandits. How can one man or a few men, who cannot boast of five (5) plots of lands five (5) years ago now have over hundred plots of lands and have sold over a thousand plots of lands illegally…

Our silences had not protected us… Especially now the proceeds from these huge plots of lands has been used to buy dangerous weapons given to hired violent thugs, some of our youths were been taken to SHRINES in foreign lands where they have sworn dangerous diabolical oaths while they are given some money, motorcycles, shuttle and tricycle etc…

The Land Bandits are now multi millionaires, while some of our youth following them are given peanuts and their future mortgaged by the oaths they took at shrines and their common wealth sweetly stolen.
Our silences will not protect us…

The violence and Grievous Bodily Harms that innocent victims has suffered in their father’s land, is only the starting point because the aggressors are boasting that they now own Enugwu Agidi community and Enugwu Agidi Brotherly Union and are free to bring in caterpillars to clear more lands for illegal selling.

What are the tyrannies we swallow day by day and attempt to make your own Ancestral Lands to be stolen and the proceeds used to hold us hostage, until you’ll sicken and die of these tyrannies, and we are still in silence? Or better still pretending to be silent.

Have we been so sacred, so brainwashed, so money conscious, so socialized to respect FEAR by a few, more than our own need for language and to call evil by it’s name before it becomes a norm?

Speaking out heals, while pretentious silence in the face of illegal selling of lands of the poor, the lands of widows and the lands of the unaware have become a norm as most of them are afraid to face the land bandits violent thugs at night or during the day etc…

Have the great home of warriors Enugwu Agidi allowed inhumanity, crimes and criminality to silence us? If not so, Speak Out.

It is possible to argue, that some actions and inactions has transformed some of us to begin to ask each time: “What’s the worst that could happen to you if you tell this truth and speak out fr God Almighty and for Humanity?”

Unlike some people in my community that are scared to speak up loud and clear, your broken silence is unlikely to have you jailed in Enugwu Agidi, “disappear while asleep in your father’s land” or run off the road at night or during the day by hired violent thugs sponsored by the Land Bandits.

On one hand, your speaking out will irritate some people, irritate those behind the crimes, irritate the sponsors of the Land Bandits, get you called jobless, get you called cashless, disrupt your invitations to some events and even threatening violence etc…

While on the other hand, your speaking out will permit more Enugwu-Agidi men and women to speak up, until laws are changed to stop illegal sales of Enugwu Agidi Ancestral Lands and free oppressed lives of widows and the suppressed lives of the poor are saved and the Enugwu Agidi is freed from the current e violent siege of land bandits and their hired violent thugs forever.

When next time, your voice speaks for the needy, the unaware, the poor and the widows whose lands are taken by force, who are scared to speak out due to fear of oppression, suppression and intimidation by the land bandits and their violent hired thugs, who have been taken to our beloved youths to shrines to swear fetish oaths at foreign lands for peanuts, okada motorcycles, shuttle buses and tricycles etc..

Please ask yourself: What’s the worst that will happen?
The above question will help you, push yourself a little further than you dare…

Once you start to speak, many people will yell and attempt to shout you down. Na Dem!

Those behind the crime, those sponsoring the land bandits and those sympathetic to the crime will sponsor a few to come online to discredit you. Monitoring Spirits!

They will interrupt you, put you down. And the world won’t end for you because you are the light that destroys their darkness. Shine Your Light!

However, the speaking and the writing will get easier and easier and better as the majority will begin to know the hidden truth(s). Then, you will find you have fallen in love with your own vision, your perspectives, your narratives, the dangerous light, which you may never have realized you had. Beacon of Hope!

Then, you will lose some friends, admirers and colleagues, and realize you don’t miss them. Suddenly, new friends will seek you, new admirers will crave for you, new colleagues will find you. They will treasure you and cherish you. And you will still ride good cars and live in good houses, dress smart and party hard, because, just as Emman Goodman, once said and I quote, “If we can’t dance to the Glory of God Almighty, in victory, we don’t want to be part of the revolution.”

Suddenly, and at last you’ll know with surpassing certainty, that only one thing is more frightening than speaking your truth…

And that is not speaking for Enugwu Agidi, at such critical juncture of land banditry, selective silence, violent thuggery and abuse of constituted authorities by a very small few…

Enugwu-Agidi needs your voice, your words, your language and your light.

A Community in Crisis and Under Hostage: ENUGWU-AGIDI

This is the most difficult opinion article I have written in my entire career as a writer. Difficult because I enjoy painting glowing pictures of my town, most people do. Now jarred by recent ugly events unfolding before my eyes, framing this opinion becomes a difficult task. And no matter how it is framed, the truth is that peace has left Enugwu- Agidi-the beautiful, and the town is now enveloped by uncertainty and violence orchestrated by land bandits whose speciality is auctioning ancestral lands to strange people without the mandate of the community.

The land bandits have successfully overpowered the town using raw violence while aided by the police who look the other way as crime and terror are unleashed on hapless villagers. Yes, you heard me well the local police that were supposed to protect the people due to self-interest and corruption allowed themselves to be compromised by these criminal elements who share their illicit proceeds with them.

According to available crime records , Enugwu-Agidi is currently topping the chart for all the wrong reasons. The once peaceful community is now the thriving capital of violence, kidnapping, cultism, illicit drugs and armed robberies. Due to recent violence unleashed by cultists and imported armed hoodlums, the town has become a ghost of itself and economic activities grounded to zero. Youths who tried to push back on the new crime wave were marked down. Many were inflicted with various degrees of injuries. About 27 persons were wounded and hospitalized in various hospitals. The palace of the Igwe and Okpalariam III was over-run by the hoodlums. The Igwe and his Onowu escaped by the whiskers and currently on the run for fear of their lives. Hundreds of youths were forced to flee the community. The women and the children who stayed back live in palpable fear of their lives and on the edge as the hoodlums go house to house in the dead of the night haunting down their victims and inflicting various degrees of injuries on them.

The most pathetic of the stories was the case of the Caretaker Committee President General of the Enugwu Agidi Brotherly Union. The caretaker government was appointed by the Anambra State Government to supervise the affairs of the town for a brief period pending the conduct of a general election. Upon resumption, the caretaker government headed by Hon. Ndubuisi Obijiofor was greeted by avalanche of petitions by people whose lands were forcefully taken away and sold by the land bandits. Most of these complainants were widows who rely on those lands for sustenance. To restore semblance of order and sanity, the caretaker government held wide consultations after which it issued a streamlined process that will allow verification and authenticity of ownership of any vast plots of land exceeding four plots being put out for sale by any member of the community.

The Town Union also temporarily banned deployment of Caterpillars into Enugwu Agidi for the purpose of clearing bush-lands without authorization because what the bandits do is to sneak in caterpillars in the dead of the night to clear targeted undeveloped parcels of land and in the process purposely uproot ancient landmarks so as to confuse existing boundaries. For having the audacity to halt indiscriminate land sales, the bandits abducted him in broad daylight, and in the presence of security agents, beat him to stupor, inflicted machete cuts on him, stripped him naked to his bare buttocks and paraded him round the market square as a trophy. That’s how the bandits humiliated the President General and snatched the peace and control of the town.

Having tasted blood and like a shark, the bandits roared. They upped their game to take over control of the town through intimidations, threats, violence and physical attacks; they purportedly installed one of their own as the new President General, the Kingpin of the bandit was installed as Igwe and another of the renegades as Onowu in clear violation of the Anambra State Chieftaincy Edict. Those terrorizing the town are not faceless. They are known to both the community and the police. They are Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor (Okekeonyeocha), Mr. Ebuka Onuora and Mr. Chidi Okoye and their trained and recruited militia.

All reports about the activities of these persons and the rising incidence of violent crimes in Enugwu Agidi to the local police end up as cold cases. In some cases, the complainants are turned into accused just to frustrate their case. According to a report filed by an Online News Media, 247 Reports, numerous reports to the police have failed because a recently retired Deputy Inspector General of Police from Awka is allegedly one of the backbones behind the criminals. He protects them and each time they were reported to the police, the said retired DIG squashes it from his end. 247 Reports further reported that the said retired Deputy Inspector General of Police influenced the posting of the Abagana, Divisional Police Officer who does his bidding by giving free hand to the bandits to continue with their nefarious operation unchallenged. Now emboldened they have expanded their crime ring from not just land banditry but to illicit drug distribution, robberies and kidnappings.

The allegation against the police and the alleged influence of the retired Deputy Inspector General of Police in the ongoing criminal enterprise is very weighty and should be thoroughly investigated by the authorities to ascertain the veracity. The nation is here reminded that high-ranking police officers in the past had been arrested and were successfully prosecuted for aiding and abetting various crimes including armed robbery and kidnappings. The End SARS protest which engulfed the nation and nearly brought it down wasn’t just about police brutality but also about the public perception of the police in bad, corrupt and oppressive image. The legacy which the current Inspector General of Police must strive to leave behind even if it remains him a day in office is to restore public confidence, especially the confidence of law-abiding citizens in the police as their friend, and not a police force that is the friend of the lawless.

This opinion article is an appeal to the President, the National Security Adviser ,the DSS and the Inspector General of Police to order independent investigation into Enugu-Agidi crisis as there may be a nexus in the crisis with the rising criminal activities in parts of the state and South- East. I further appeal to the Anambra State Governor who have made a success story of security to look into the situation in Enugwu Agidi. The people are in pains and in fear. The more this situation lingers, the more things will get awry. If anything, un-toward happens to the peace Enugwu Agidi or any of its good people, the State and the law should know the direction to look. Law-abiding citizens have right to live in peace and to be protected by the law. No one or group of persons should constitute themselves into nuisance to the extent of overpowering a whole community and its constituted authorities.

Mmili Ogene, is one of the streams that met and merged in a rare natural metamorphosis of aquatic life.

Mmili Apalata, is one of the streams of Enugwu Agidi, that met and mixed to form Confluence of Streams.

Mmili Ogene, is on the right hand side, while you are walking or driving along Enugwu Agidi Road, heading Amawbia town, after Enugwu Agidi Community Girls Secondary School.

Mmili Apalata, is on your left hand side, while you are on Enugwu Agidi Road, heading towards the direction of Amawbia town, after Enugwu Agidi Community Girls Secondary School.

One one hand Mmili Ogene, has an earth sand colour, which uniquely differentiates it from Mmili Apalata.

On the other hand Mmili Apalata, has a milky cream colour, which differentiates it from Mmili Ogene.
